You should perform regular checks as mandated by your Vehicle Manufacturer. It is advisable to have a complete inspection done atleast once a year. It should be done sooner, if you notice symptoms such as:
- Poor fuel economy
- Irregular engine revving when idle and/or accelerating
- Knocking sounds from the engine compartment
- Issues with starting your vehicle at the first go
- Stalling of your vehicle when stopped
- Puddles of oil below your car after being parked, or any drips
